I'm Jared White, a photographer based in Nevada City, CA. Photography found me before I found it. I remember being handed a camera for the first time and realizing almost immediately that I was looking at the world differently, noticing light, framing moments, seeing stories in the ordinary.
That feeling hasn't changed. I serve Nevada County and surrounding areas, bringing that same genuine excitement to every session: what real, unscripted moment might unfold in front of the lens.
My specialty is people. I love watching someone relax into a session, stop thinking about being photographed, and just exist. That's when the best images happen.

How I Work

Every great portrait starts with a conversation. I take time to understand who you are while we scout for locations you like, and in between captures, so the images reflect you.

Natural light is my primary tool. I plan sessions around golden hour, seek locations with beautiful ambient light, and use it to create warmth and depth that feels cinematic.

The posed shots are just the beginning. The moments between: the genuine laugh, the unguarded look, the quiet breath. Those are often the most powerful images from any session.
